About Anne-Wil

Hi! I am Anne-Wil, passionate photographer and coach, based in Winschoten, The Netherlands. Creativity is in my blood. I have been actively photographing for quite a number of years. I started my professional career in 2017. Yet the creativity does not stop there. You can find me with a paintbrush in my hand, behind the computer designing, or drawing fanatically. I think the great thing about photography is the combination of the creative and social aspects. In addition to taking photos, I love working with people. Especially the happiness and self-confidence that I see when I take beautiful pictures of someone. If you are proud of yourself and the pictures then I am happy!

Boxing

In addition to my creative hobbies, I have been boxing for over half my life. A sport that not only ensures that you feel good about yourself, but also one that creates discipline and perseverance.

Canon

In 2012 I bought my first Canon camera with my savings. I have now worn out many cameras, but I have remained loyal to Canon. I currently shoot with the Canon 5D Mark IV and the Canon 6D Mark II.

Travelling

I love exploring different countries. I have traveled to many places in the world with my partner Hendrik and hope to travel more. My bucket list includes Japan, Africa and Iceland.

Water

You can often find me on or in the water in the summer. I love wakeboarding, paddle boarding and swimming! There is no better feeling for me than spending a warm day by the water.

Games

I regularly organize a game night with my friend group. I'm quite competitive so I don't know if my friends enjoy these game nights as much as I do...

Game of Thrones

Watching series is not really one of my hobbies, but I absolutely love Game of Thrones! Favorite character? Maybe a bit basic, but I'm still going to say Daenerys.

Timeline

2012

How it started

I graduated as a graphic designer in 2012. Photography was a permanent part of my education. My passion for photography remained even after I got my degree. I soon bought my first DSLR camera and started practicing. No family member or friend was safe from my camera. Everyone had to model.

After five years of practice, the time had finally come! I had enough confidence in myself and my skills to start my own business. The whole process was exciting but so much fun. I created my own website, started recruiting customers and soon the first assignments came in.

A year later I photographed my first real wedding. I had already practiced at small, informal weddings, and now I was ready for the bigger formal weddings. I remember how nervous I was for my first formal wedding shoot. The photos turned out beautiful and I still look back on that day with a smile.

In 2019 I received my first business assignment; photographing models for a clothing webshop. Super fun to have a say in the styling and vibe of the photo shoot. Since then I’ve been able to work with many business clients. Including: RTV-Noord, MediaMarkt, Drenth Holland and the Municipality of Groningen.

Started with travel photography

Combining my passion for travel and photography was the next step in my career. I started taking the camera with me on trips and that resulted in beautiful photos. Travel photography is a special profession and very different from the portraits I normally photograph.

Sharing my passion for photography with others is something I have wanted to do for a long time. Through 1-on-1 coaching sessions I help people take their photography to the next level. I find it incredible to see how happy photography can make a person.
